Posted October 8, 2009 at 1 a.m.

MARTIN COUNTY — Through the cooperative efforts of the Martin County School District and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, a special DUI prevention program will be presented to students at South Fork High School and Indiantown Middle School.

The program includes guest speaker Renee Napier, whose daughter, Meagan, was killed in a car crash involving a drunk driver. Meagan’s best friend also died in the accident. The driver of the vehicle that struck their car had been drinking and is now serving a 22-year prison sentence.

Since her daughter’s death, Napier has formed the Meagan Napier Foundation to share her daughter’s story with students and the public with the goal of raising awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving.

In addition to Napier, local father Tim Stone, whose daughter was killed in a tragic accident in Martin County, will also be attending the presentations at South Fork High Schoosl. Stone will be accompanied by Stephen Bromstrup, the driver convicted of vehicular homicide in the deaths of Sarah Stone and Alexandra Quaroni.

DUI Prevention Presentations:

8:30 a.m. Oct. 15, South Fork High School

9:30 a.m. Oct. 16, Indiantown Middle School

The community is also invited to attend an evening presentation 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at South Fork High School in the auditorium. Admission is free.
